Wilhelm Neusser
Wilhelm
Neusser was born in 1976 in Cologne, Germany. From 1997 to 2001
he studied at the
Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Karlsruhe under
Professors Gerd van Dülmen und Harald Klingelhöller. He was also a guest student in art history and theory at the
Hochschule für Gestaltung Karlsruhe under Professors Hans Belting
und Siegfried Gohr. In the winter semester of
2000/2001 he was a Sokrates/Erasmus Fellow at the Ecole des Beaux Arts
in Rouen, France. He successfully completed his studies in 2001 and
moved to Cologne, where he continued to paint, while also working in
various fields, including the art market. In 2005 he opened his own
studio and has been working ever since as an independent artist. Over the
years Neusser´s work has been widely exhibited. In 2007 he was
awarded the prestigious ZVAB Phönix art prize. In 2009/2010 he
was international artist in residence at Boots Contemporary Arts
Space in Saint Louis. In 2011 Neusser moved to the
United States. He now lives and works in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
